This year is the year of Mobile!

Every year for the past five years we've heard, "This year is the year of Mobile!" Every year, the mobile market place gets bigger and bigger, but it still hasn't reached its peak. Well, this year could be the year!

The reason why mobile hasn't taken off in a significant way sooner is because of one simple reason - the mobile internet. Only a small percentage of mobile users accessed the internet on their phones. Most handsets in the market place have got internet access, but it's slow and tedious.

To be able to use the internet and the phone to its full potential, you need a smartphone, however smartphones have been too expensive for a large portion of the population. Now, with networks offering special deals and making smartphones (particularly Android) more accessible to a larger number of the populations (and apple are mooted to be releasing an iphone nano in the near future), the potential of the mobile device for brands and businesses is finally being realized.

This is the year we'll see an explosion in Mobile advertising and marketing-from apps to location-based services to mobile marketing. And it is crucial that as forward-thinking media business, we are at the front of this technological revolution. We need to create a presence in the mobile space for our brands before it's too late - otherwise the world will move on and leave us behind.
